Scholarship Information

The following information pertains to the payment, disbursement, and delivery of Scholarship awards. The process for receiving your award will depend on the type of scholarship, as described below.

 

For University of Arizona Scholarships and Waivers

Provided that you have met all of the financial aid requirements, the funds will credit your Bursar account and pay off any account balance owed to the University. For questions about your award, eligibility, or awards not appearing on your student account, please contact the Office of Student Financial Aid.

 

For Outside Scholarships

Scholarships may be sent directly to The University of Arizona or given to the student. These checks are typically made payable in one of the following three ways:

 

Payable to The University of Arizona (recommended method)

Payable to The University of Arizona and the student

Payable to the student only

 

• Payable to The University of Arizona

  Checks payable to The University of Arizona should include the student name and 9-character ID number on the memo section of the check. Mail or deliver the check to The University of Arizona Foundation address:

• Payable to The University of Arizona and the student

  Checks payable to The University of Arizona and to the student should include the student's 9-character ID number on the memo section of the check. Mail or deliver the check to The University of Arizona Foundation address below. To avoid processing delays, students should endorse the check before it is mailed or delivered.

  You can also bring Scholarship checks to the Bursar's Office in University Services Building, Room 104, and our courier will deliver them to the Foundation for you.
  
  Once the Foundation has received your check, they will deposit the funds into a gift account and notify the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships of your award. A financial aid counselor will load the award into the system. Provided that you meet all of the financial aid requirements, the funds will credit your Bursar account and pay off any account balance owed to the University. Your residual funds will be directly deposited into your bank account or mailed to your local address, depending on the delivery method you've selected in Student Link Web Refund.

 

• Payable to the student only

  Scholarship checks received by The University of Arizona that are made payable to the student will be sent to the Bursar's Office. If you do not have a balance on your student account, the check will be mailed to your local address. If you do have an account balance, we will send an e-mail to your University e-mail address requesting that you come to the Bursar's Office, University Services Building, Room 104, and endorse your check. Once endorsed, the check will be applied to your account and pay off any account balance owed to the University. We will issue you a check for the residual scholarship funds, as long as you meet all of the financial aid requirements.

You must present your CatCard or a valid photo ID in order to endorse a scholarship check.
