Federal Stafford Loans

EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) Stafford Loans:

Your lending institution will transfer funds to the University under your name. Provided that you meet all of the financial aid requirements, the funds will credit your Bursar account and pay off any account balance owed to the University. Your residual loan funds will be directly deposited into your bank account or mailed to your local address, depending on the delivery method you've selected in Student Link Web Refund.

 

Non-EFT Stafford Loans:

Your lending institution will send the University a paper loan check. Once the check is received, we will send an e-mail to your University e-mail address to notify you requesting that you come to the Bursar's Office in University Services Building, Room 104, and endorse your check. You must present your CatCard or a valid photo ID in order to endorse a loan check. Please be aware that funds will not be available the same day you endorse the check.

 

Provided that you meet all of the financial aid requirements, the funds will credit your Bursar account and pay off any account balance owed to the University. Your residual loan funds will be directly deposited into your bank account or mailed to your local address, depending on the delivery method you've selected in Student Link Web Refund.

Federal Parent PLUS Loans

EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) PLUS Loans:

EFT PLUS loan proceeds will be delivered to the student, NOT the parent. The lending institution will transfer funds to the University under the student's name. Provided that the student meets all of the financial aid requirements, the funds will credit the student's Bursar account and pay off any balance owed to the University. The residual loan funds will be directly deposited into the student’s bank account or mailed to the student's local address, depending on the delivery method the student has selected in Student Link Web Refund.

 

Non-EFT PLUS Loans:

Non-EFT PLUS loan proceeds will be delivered to the parent. The lender will send the University a paper loan check, payable to The University of Arizona and the borrower.

 

• If the student does not have an account balance and meets all the financial aid requirements, the Bursar's Office will endorse the check over to the parent and mail it to the address specified in the loan paperwork.
• If the student does have an account balance, the check will be endorsed "For Deposit Only -- University of Arizona", and mailed out for borrower endorsement. Once endorsed, the borrower sends the check back to the Bursar's Office mailing address. We will apply the check to the student's account, thus clearing any balance owed to the University. The remaining credit will be mailed to the parent in the form of a check.

Note:

If you want the proceeds of your Non-EFT PLUS loan to be delivered to your student, you must send us a letter specifying this. The BORROWER must sign this letter, and the signature must be notarized.

Grants

Provided that you meet all of the financial aid requirements, the funds will credit your Bursar account and pay off any account balance owed to the University. Your residual funds will be directly deposited into your bank account or mailed to your local address, depending on the delivery method you've selected in Student Link Web Refund.

Stipends, Remissions, and Other Departmental Awards

The Bursar's Office will deliver departmental awards once the department has completed the appropriate paperwork, and the award has credited the student's account. This type of award is not always delivered automatically. Once the funds have been credited to your account, contact the Bursar's Office for information about delivery.
