The University of Arizona budget is based on student enrollment as of the 21st academic calendar day (Census Date) for each Fall and Spring semester. Beginning the 22nd calendar day (following the first day of the semester), students with outstanding tuition balances will be assessed a mandatory $250.00 charge. This charge is to offset state subsidy payments the University fails to receive for unpaid students. Additionally, any student who increases units beginning the 22nd academic calendar day or any day thereafter -- including a student who has already paid full-time fees -- will be charged the $250.00.
The Census Date Late Charge will be assessed to student accounts under the following circumstances:
This late charge cannot be waived. Students will be charged regardless of whether an Account Summary or email notification has been sent for additional registration. Lack of funds, non-receipt of notification, and other personal reasons for delayed payment will not be considered.
Students should check their account balance on Student Link each time they change their registration. To avoid the $250.00 Charge, registration must be completed and paid for by the Census Date.
This charge does not apply to Summer or Winter Sessions.
